Japan's largest union federation Rengo will push for about a 6% pay increase in
2027 spring wage talks, urging affiliates to demand at least 5% (ideal 6%). It
calls for base wages to rise at least 3%, with an ideal target of 4%. Rengo
assistant secretary-general Akira Nidaira said the move follows last year's 5%
baseline and is intended to encourage larger pay gains, aligning with the
government's aim of using sustained wage growth to support consumption and
economic expansion.
