China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released Jan–Sep 2026 shipbuilding data showing China continues to dominate global shipbuilding. Completed output was 58.05 mln dwt, up 50.7% YoY; new orders were 175.29 mln dwt, up 163.2% YoY; and orderbook stood at 399.13 mln dwt, up 64.8% YoY. China’s shares of the global market were 63.6% of completions, 81.8% of new orders and 72.4% of orderbook. China’s share of international new orders for green-propulsion ships rose to 74.1%, up 5.7 percentage points versus Jan–Jun.
