Samsung Electronics recently initiated a new round of 2-nanometer equipment procurement for its Taylor 1 Fab in Texas, USA. The new equipment will provide approximately 6,000 wafers per month of production capacity, with plans to gradually introduce the equipment starting at the end of 2026 and expand shipments as early as the second half of 2027. Previously, Samsung began investing in the construction of a 10,000-wafer-per-month capacity line at the end of 2025. Including the initial pilot production line, the total capacity is expected to reach 20,000 wafers per month by the second half of 2027, filling the entire designed capacity of Fab 1, and essentially completing the core equipment investment. The Taylor 1 Fab was announced in 2021 with an initial investment of $17 billion, and its main customers include Tesla.
