President Trump on Thursday signed an executive order directing FHFA Director Bill Purtle to design a pilot allowing borrowers who meet required home-equity thresholds based on current market value to proactively cancel mortgage insurance premiums. The order establishes a Prefabricated Housing Innovation Task Force to promote modern manufacturing technologies aimed at improving build quality and reducing construction costs. It also instructs USDA Secretary Brook Rollins and VA Secretary Doug Collins to lower single-family loan rates issued by their departments.
