China's deputy UN ambassador Sun Lei urged genuine multilateralism and equal
treatment of states, saying major powers should lead in upholding the UN Charter
and opposing unilateralism. Beijing said it opposes unilateral sanctions without
Security Council authorization and reiterated that Council sanctions should aim
to facilitate political solutions, follow Charter principles, exhaust peaceful
means first and minimize harm to civilians and third countries. China urged
dispute resolution by direct dialogue and for international judicial bodies to
act only with parties' consent, warning against arbitrary jurisdictional
expansion, and said it has taken an objective, constructive diplomatic role on
Ukraine and the Israel‑Palestine conflict.
