On Oct. 23, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said the agency is accelerating
lunar base development and crewed moon plans, targeting a return of astronauts
to the lunar surface within two years. Under current scheduling, Artemis III is
due to launch in summer 2027; four astronauts will perform an approximately
two-week Earth‑orbital mission and dock with lunar landers from SpaceX and Blue
Origin for testing. Artemis IV remains planned for 2028 and is expected to
deliver the first crewed lunar landing since Apollo.
