The Ministry of Natural Resources Tsunami Warning Center preliminarily reports a
magnitude-6.8 earthquake at 14.21°S, 165.54°E, depth 15 km at 10:31 Beijing time
on Oct. 24, 2026. Exact parameters await determination by the China Earthquake
Networks Center. Based on initial parameters, the center judges the quake could
produce a local tsunami around the epicenter but will not affect China’s coast.
The center will continue to monitor seismic and tsunami data and issue updates.
