CPCA chair Cui Dongshu said China’s combined power and other battery production
was 237 GWh in September, up 57% YoY, with Jan–Sep output at 1,833 GWh, up 63%
YoY. He said battery growth has cooled from above 60% this year as power-battery
demand weakened and export tax rebate adjustments have reduced demand. In Sep
2026 lithium battery vehicle fitment was 87 GWh, up 15% YoY; Jan–Sep 2026
fitment was 576 GWh, up 17% YoY. The share of production fitted to vehicles fell
to 44% in 2025 and to 37% in Sep 2026; in Sep 2026 NMC (ternary) fitness rate
was 35% and LFP fitment rate 37%. Domestic lithium-battery vehicle fittings in
Sep 2026 were 1.26mln units, down 12% YoY — BEV passenger cars 810k (-6%), PHEV
passenger cars 350k (-29%), BEV trucks 82k (+22%). Cui said the production
figures show pronounced divergence across segments.
