Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu told i24 on Friday night the Palestinian
Authority (PA) will face a “big surprise” after he ordered a large-scale
military operation in the occupied West Bank following an attack on Israeli
soldiers. Ahead of legislative elections he said the preventing creation of a
Palestinian state is a campaign objective. He did not directly say whether he
intends to dissolve the PA but indicated a preference for carrying out
“surprise” measures, saying he will take steps “best kept secret” to eliminate
the threat. Netanyahu also said Israel can broaden the Abraham Accords to
additional countries that would not make recognition contingent on a Palestinian
state.
