Israeli forces began operations in the West Bank city of Hebron on the 23rd,
Evicting about 1,500 Palestinians from their homes and ordering a further 2,500
to be removed. The Hebron governor said the raids displaced more than 200
Palestinian families. The military demolished homes and shops, sealed roads into
Hebron and barred residents from entering or leaving. The Israel Defense Forces
said it would carry out “precise, targeted, comprehensive” searches to locate
and destroy “terrorist” facilities and weapons.
