Oct 21, 2026 — China’s special envoy for the Middle East Zhai Jun met in Beijing
with Saudi foreign ministry adviser Prince Khalid to discuss China-Saudi ties
and the regional situation. Zhai said bilateral relations have expanded rapidly
under top-level strategic guidance, reiterated China’s concern about the current
Middle East situation, and said Beijing supports safeguarding the sovereignty
and security of regional states, including Saudi Arabia, and prefers resolving
disputes through dialogue and negotiation. Prince Khalid said Riyadh prioritises
developing relations with China, welcoming China’s constructive role in regional
affairs, and pledged to strengthen communication and cooperate to promote
regional peace and stability.
