On the 26th, Russia's foreign ministry spokesperson Zakharova warned Japan's
pursuit of a revanchist line risks serious consequences and urged Tokyo to
recognize the danger. She said the Japanese government has neither apologized
nor intends to accept the outcome of World War II, and that school textbooks
stress unfounded territorial claims against neighbors while largely omitting
wartime atrocities. Zakharova described Tokyo's approach as historical
revisionism and revanchism that could provoke very grave consequences, even
repeating mistakes of more than 80 years ago.
