Jiaolong manned submersible, following a second iterative upgrade, completed multiple 7,000m-class dives in the Philippine Basin and returned safely, concluding the national key R&D project 'Jiaolong key operational capability enhancement and scientific application' 7,000m sea trials. Operating from research vessel Shenhai-1 during the second leg of the China Ocean 100 expedition, Jiaolong made three dives, two exceeding 7,000m, with a maximum depth of 7,056.9m; all test indicators met 7,000m-class sea-trial requirements.
