Oct 27, 2026 — China’s National Radio and Television Administration issued the Regulations on Cable Radio and Television Operation Services, effective Nov. 27. The rules prohibit any organization or individual from altering cable broadcast content or intercepting, interfering with or descrambling transmission signals. Article 12 mandates a live-first principle: cable operators must provide a full-screen live-on-startup function, include a channel replay entry and may not play startup (power-on) advertising. Smart TVs must support priority live-channel display and offer an easy access settings entry.
