A Foxconn employee said the failures are broadly consistent with a hinge-related issue and that, amid tight capacity, Apple had previously relax some yield quality-control thresholds to maintain supply—raising the likelihood defective screens could reach the market. Foxconn has urgently replaced a batch of materials on the iPhone Duo production line; production remains unaffected and stocking plans are unchanged. A channel source said iPhone Duo inventory for the year is being prepared at about 7.5 mln units.
