Three people told Reuters OPEC+ is likely to keep December oil output targets unchanged at an online meeting on Sunday and shift focus to negotiating 2027 production quotas. Participants include seven core members: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan and Oman. Gulf export flows, previously disrupted for months by Iran-related conflict, are being restored, but most members’ actual production remains well below assigned targets. Sources said no final decision has been made.

Nick Timiraos reports Fed Chair Kevin Warsh wants to stop previewing future policy, but many colleagues say the Fed must explain how it will react to economic shifts. Warsh has sought to reduce public remarks, yet most peers have not followed suit: the Wall Street Journal counts at least 59 speeches, interviews or other public comments by 16 officials with one year+ tenure in the post-September policy meeting quiet period, roughly matching about 54 a year earlier. Warsh’s effort to change Fed communication is ongoing and proving difficult. Officials cite two opposing shocks to the U.S. economy—an energy shock from the Middle East war and an AI-driven investment boom—and are uncertain which force to target or how large a policy response should be. Even a chair more willing to speak for the committee would likely struggle to reconcile views under current conditions.
