China's minister-level international trade negotiator and MOFCOM vice minister Li Chenggang told a high-level session on reshaping global value chains that the world recovery is weak, cross-border investment is sluggish, and GVCs are becoming fragmented and politicized, marginalizing developing countries amid a lack of coordinated investment policy. At the opening of the morning session, most domestic futures contracts declined, with caustic soda falling over 4%, palm oil, styrene (EB), and benzene falling over 2%, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), coking coal, cotton, and soybean oil falling nearly 2%. On the upside, asphalt rose over 3%, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), methanol, lithium carbonate, propylene, and zinc rose over 1%, and polypropylene and polypropylene futures rose nearly 1% on average for the month.
