Sakhr Muhammadawi, a member of the Iraqi Parliament's Security and Defense Committee, stated that the closure of the Al-Sheib border crossing between Iraq and Iran is causing significant economic losses and directly impacting trade between the two countries. He warned that if the situation is not resolved quickly, the Iraqi Parliament may take decisive action. It is noteworthy that as the controversy surrounding the Al-Sheib border closure escalates, drone activity has resurfaced around Baghdad's Green Zone. The Iraqi Security Media Office announced yesterday that it shot down an unidentified drone near Baghdad's Green Zone. The explosion during the interception could be heard in several areas of Baghdad. An informed security source told Al-Ahram newspaper that preliminary technical inspections indicated the downed drone was not carrying explosives but was equipped with surveillance and reconnaissance equipment. The source also stated that security forces detected signs of more than one drone over Baghdad, one of which was conducting reconnaissance of the area surrounding the US Embassy in Iraq and related ground activities.
