Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-person biotechnology company founded by Cody Tranbarger, who publicly revealed his identity on social media. Tranbarger, who has been active on social media for six years under the pseudonym "Professor Oak," announced the news in a post on October 28. Mithril Medicine, founded by Tranbarger, focuses on developing bispecific antibodies against LAMA2-CMD and other extracellular matrix-related genetic diseases, and previously received seed funding from Atlas Venture. Tranbarger stated that joining Anthropic will allow him to continue Mithril's projects and explore the "Pipeline-in-a-Person" model, where a single individual uses AI tools to advance multiple drug development projects in parallel. He believes that combining AI with biology will cure diseases, but the key lies in orchestration and parallelization rather than simply accelerating the timeline. Anthropic did not disclose the terms of the transaction.
