The UK chancellor said the government will build cheaper, faster grid
connections, cancel the planned gas shipper obligation, and move to delink
domestic energy bills from international gas prices. It will push more renewable
generation onto fixed-price contracts and expand the VAT base on electricity
while extending VAT relief measures for energy bills.
