FT reports US and Russia have discussed economic incentives to advance peace talks that would permit US firms to re-enter Russia’s energy sector. Proposals cited include restoring Sakhalin oil and gas JVs, resuming Russian oil exports to Europe via the Druzhba pipeline, partial restoration of Nord Stream gas flows, Novatek participation in Alaska LNG, sale of Lukoil’s overseas assets to investors close to the White House, easing potash sanctions, and transferring management of the ZAPORIZHZHIA NUCLEAR PLANT to a US entity. US officials say any cooperation must be part of a comprehensive peace framework and no agreement has been reached. The FT adds Europe opposes sanction relief before the conflict ends and US companies are reportedly cautious, leaving implementation highly uncertain.

Rising energy costs are pushing up inflation, but the BOT's seven-member MPC unanimously voted Wednesday to keep the benchmark one-day repurchase rate at 1%—the fourth consecutive meeting with no change and the rate's lowest since September 2022. A Bloomberg survey of 23 economists had predicted the decision. Headline inflation accelerated to 2.82%, the fastest since April, but remained within a controllable range, allowing the BOT to maintain an accomodative stance while the government supports a recovery dented by higher energy costs.
