U.S. Central Command: In recent days and weeks, Iranian-controlled media outlets have reported Iranian claims that merchant ships have struck mines while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. These claims are false.
In fact, all internationally recognized major transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz have been cleared of mines by the U.S. military and will remain mine-free. Thousands of merchant ships have safely used these transit routes and continue to do so.
