The requirement routes purchases through Google’s or Apple’s payment systems rather than developer-operated systems; both firms levy commissions up to 30% depending on revenue. The action comes three years after KMCC first signaled intent to penalize the U.S. tech groups. KMCC chair Kim Jong-cheol told a parliamentary oversight hearing on Oct. 12 he expects a decision before the end of October.
