MOFCOM spokesperson Huang Ling said at a regular briefing on the 29th that,
responding to media reports the EU is studying extending a hybrid-vehicle trade
understanding of chemicals, discriminatory restrictions on Chinese goods would
risk violating WTO rules, increase downstream costs, push up EU inflation and
threaten global supply-chain stability. She said the second meeting of the
China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism delivered positive progress
and multiple consensuses, signaling both sides’ willingness and capacity to
resolve disputes through dialogue. China opposes protectionist abuse of
trade-defense tools and, if the EU unilaterally imposes discriminatory measures
on Chinese products, will take all necessary measures to defend its interests
and the legal rights of Chinese firms.
