Oct. 29 — Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Beijing has noted
reports that Sanrio canceled a collaboration with a Japanese TV drama after
public backlash to its depiction of Chinese characters. He said the case again
exposes a persistent force in Japan attempting to denigrate China through
cultural products and to spread anti‑Chinese sentiment, and urged vigilance from
the international community and concerned parties in Japan.
