According to an SEC filing on October 28, US energy company NiSource has reached a new data center power supply agreement with Microsoft. Including previous agreements with Amazon and Alphabet, the company expects the power generation arrangements to save existing customers approximately $1.75 billion, up from the previously disclosed $1.4 billion. NiSource also announced a $40 billion capital expenditure plan from 2027 to 2033, with $32 billion allocated to infrastructure and $8 billion to data center-related investments. The company separates its data center business from its traditional utility business, and these large-scale power customer agreements have become a significant component of its new investments.
