Crédit Agricole reported Q3 net income up 18% YoY to €1.99bn (~$2.23bn). French retail revenue hit a record and corporate & investment banking posted its strongest Q3 revenue. The bank’s CEO warned recent fiscal and political unrest in France could reduce loan demand and raise credit risk in coming months, citing a slowdown in overall investment and projects. Management said it expects loan applications may fall and is taking a highly cautious stance. The comment is the strongest warning from French bankers to date, suggesting the fiscal impasse that has pushed up domestic borrowing costs could spill across the financial sector.

On Oct. 28, 2026, Director of the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs Hou Yanqi met in Quang Ninh, Vietnam with Nguyen Dang Thang, director of Vietnam’s National Border Committee. They exchanged views on land-border and maritime issues and agreed to implement the high-level consensus between the two parties and countries, use bilateral border and maritime dialogue mechanisms, strengthen communication and coordination, properly manage differences, and advance practical cooperation on both land and sea. They also agreed to enhance coordination on border and maritime affairs at regional and international levels. Prior to the meeting they jointly inspected the Dongxing–Mong Cai border crossing.
