Chile's Q3 copper production fell to 1.16 mln tonnes, down 12% YoY and 8.7% QoQ,
the lowest quarterly total on record since end-2006, the Chilean National
Institute of Statistics (INE) said. Accidents, adverse weather and declining ore
grades disrupted mine operations. Production in the first nine months slid 8.6%;
full-year output could hit a multi-decade low. Chile supplies more than
one-fifth of global mined copper, and the decline is tightening global supply as
electrification-related demand accelerates.
