An Iranian security source told Al Jazeera that Tehran is continuing negotiations with the United States through Qatar and other intermediaries, but Iran harbors no unrealistic illusions about Trump's intentions. Iran considers the message received from US Vice President Vance to be positive and is currently studying how to respond. We believe that while there may be differing voices within the US, experience shows that the US president and his inner circle ultimately succumb to the temptations of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and hardliners who support war. Therefore, we have a responsibility to continue to be fully prepared to take resolute and costly defensive action in the face of any aggression or crimes by the US and Israel.
