Iran's first vice president warned on Monday residents may face natural gas
shortages this winter and urged conservation, years citing accumulated
imbalances and war-related damage to the gas transmission network. He said
authorities must be candid about the system's stability in cold months and
warned that consumers who fail to reduce usage could face higher gas prices. The
advisory follows an Oct. 25 call from the speaker of parliament for a nationwide
10% cut in gas consumption.
