JP Morgan strategists led by Pankaj Gupta warn MSCI’s March upgrade of Greece to
developed-market status, effective May next year, will force emerging-market
index trackers to sell about $5.1 bln of Greek equities while developed-market
index funds buy roughly $4.8 bln, implying an estimated net passive outflow of
about $275 mln. The team says the reclassification is expected to have a net
negative impact on passive flows to the Greek market.
