Nov 3 — At a press briefing on the '15th Five' agenda, the China state planner
said the current tech revolution is characterized by multiple, clustered and
cross-disciplinary breakthroughs, producing many potential future-industry
directions. Beijing has singled out priority sectors for the '15th Five' period
including quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen and fusion energy,
brain–computer interfaces, embodied intelligence and 6G. The planner warned
development cannot 'cover everything' and called for national coordination while
backing local governments to pursue subfields where they have existing
foundations and comparative advantage.
