LG Energy told investors it will expand North American energy-storage battery
capacity to capture rising AI data-center demand, CFO Chang Sil Lee said on the
earnings call. The company expects pouch-format ESS capacity to exceed 50 GWh by
year-end and to lift output to above 70 GWh next year. LG is preparing an LFP
2170 cylindrical cell, targeting mass production in 1H 2027, and is accelerating
sodium‑ion R&D—planning ESS sample production at its Wucang plant by year-end
and delivery of test units to North American customers in 2027.
