Beijing, Nov 3 — China foreign minister Wang Yi met Laos deputy prime minister
and foreign minister Thongsavanh ahead of the Lancang‑Mekong Cooperation foreign
ministers’ meeting. Wang briefed Thongsavanh on last week’s CPC 20th Central
Fifth Committee Plenum, saying the plenum approved decisions to persistently
advance comprehensive strict Party governance under Xi’s party‑building thought
and set strategic deployments to provide political guarantees for implementing
the 15th Five‑Year Plan and promoting Chinese‑style modernization. He said the
plenum’s outcomes will create new opportunities for China‑Laos cooperation. The
two sides will prepare high‑level exchanges, use the China‑Laos Economic
Corridor joint committee mechanism, and speed up construction of the China‑Laos
railway and cooperation on trade, mining and related sectors.
