Worksite says the first unit’s stator and main transformer have been installed,
marking the electromechanical installation phase entering a critical stage. The
plant in Luotian County, Huanggang, Hubei has total capacity of 1.4 GW,
comprising four 350 MW reversible pump-turbine motor-generator units. Once
operational it will supply peak shaving, valley filling, bulk energy storage,
frequency and phase regulation, and emergency reserve capacity to the Hubei
grid.
