Latvia's government led by Prime Minister Andris Kurbergs resigned en masse on
the 3rd and will serve as a caretaker until a new cabinet is formed, the Latvian
parliament's website said. The country's 15th parliament held its first session
the same day; 100 newly elected MPs were sworn in and a new presidium was
elected, and the outgoing cabinet submitted its resignation report. Under
Latvian law the incumbent government is deemed resigned when a new parliament
convenes and remains in office until a new government wins a parliamentary vote
of confidence.
