Decision Desk HQ projects Democrat Amy Acton will defeat Republican Vivek
Ramaswamy in the Ohio governor's race. AP preliminary counts show Acton, a
former Ohio Department of Health director, at 50.7% versus Ramaswamy's 46.0%.
The seat flips from Republican control; Acton would succeed term-limited
Republican Governor Mike DeWine. She would be the first Democratic Ohio governor
since 2006 and the state's first woman governor. The result, in a state Trump
carried by about 11 percentage points in 2024, gives Democrats influence over
Ohio policy areas including health and education.
