A recent report by US venture capital firm Menlo Ventures, titled "The State of Enterprise AI 2026," shows that as of September 2026, global enterprise AI deployment spending annualized to $176.8 billion, a 5.4-fold increase from $33 billion the previous year, and a cumulative increase of approximately 100 times over three years. Market revenue is rapidly concentrating on leading model developers. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google collectively account for 69% of enterprise AI deployment spending, up from 50% the previous year. Specifically, Anthropic and OpenAI together account for 86% of enterprise large-scale model API spending, a 19 percentage point increase from 2025. Anthropic holds the top spot with a 55% share, OpenAI has 31%, while Google's share has decreased from 21% to 9%. The report points out that AI agents are becoming the main driver of spending growth, with 80% of token consumption on the OpenRouter platform now coming from agents. Actual enterprise AI spending averaged 4.7 times that of the previous year, far exceeding the original plan of 1.9 times. Despite the fact that the usage of open-source models has risen to 19%, their expenditure share is still only 4%, indicating that enterprises' paid demand continues to concentrate on high-performance cutting-edge models.
