Wuhan Lotus Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with SAMR (recall
S2026M0121V) to immediately recall 33 imported Lotus Elise 220 cars produced
between June 10, 2014 and December 13, 2015. Defect: incomplete resin molding
reduced low‑pressure fuel‑pump impeller density; the impeller can swell when
exposed to fuel, interfere with the pump housing, cause low‑pressure pump
failure and, in extreme cases, engine stall while driving. Remedy: the company
will replace affected vehicles’ low‑pressure fuel pumps free of charge with an
improved unit.
