[US Midterm Elections Unlikely to End Israeli Government Formation Deadlock] Israeli political commentator Alec Haim Pollard stated that the Republican Party's significant defeat following the US midterm elections will only gradually reveal its impact after Israel forms a new parliament. Pollard said, "I don't think the US midterm election results will have a significant impact on the previously discussed issue of forming a government in Israel. Neither the Netanyahu camp nor the anti-Netanyahu camp has secured a majority of seats in parliament." He added, "The anti-Netanyahu camp, led by Eisencourt, will likely still need to somehow gain the support of Arab parties, or at least obtain external support. This political landscape remains largely unchanged." Pollard indicated that in the coming weeks, various political camps will engage in a series of "complex negotiations" to try and find a way to form a new government. Israeli President Isaac Herzog is expected to begin coalition negotiations with various political camps at 5 PM local time.
