Google plans to invest $15 billion to expand data centers and cloud computing in Malaysia to meet AI-driven infrastructure demand. The company will build new compute campuses and invest in local water security, power generation and workforce training, with projects to be implemented in 2027–2028. Google said the new campuses will add about $1.1 billion to the Malaysian economy during construction and support more than 37,000 local jobs annually; once operational, the data centers are expected to sustain over 9,000 local jobs across technical, mechanical and electrical engineering, logistics and security roles. Google joins other global tech firms expanding in Malaysia, which has become a Southeast Asian data-center hub—attracting Oracle and Amazon—on the back of lower operating costs, reliable infrastructure and proximity to Singapore.
