The US midterm election vote count suggests that Democrats are poised to regain control of the House of Representatives. Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, warned, "Get your lawyers ready." If the Democrats successfully control the House, Garcia is expected to become chairman of the Oversight Committee in January 2027 and launch a large-scale investigation into the Trump administration. His proposed investigations would cover financial transactions by the Trump family during their presidency, corporate corruption, documents related to the Epstein case, and alleged abuses of power by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). If the Democrats gain control of the committee, they will be able to strengthen oversight through congressional subpoenas, document retrieval, and public hearings, potentially putting the Trump administration and related businesses under greater legal and political pressure.
