The 29th China-Canada Economic and Trade Joint Committee held its first
ministerial-level meeting in Beijing, co-chaired by MOFCOM minister RAIMONDO and
Canada's international trade minister. Officials said recent consultations
yielded positive progress, including a further extension of exemption measures
under the preliminary joint arrangement. China said it will use the committee as
the primary channel to narrow disputes and expand cooperation, continue
the bilateral trade roadmap, consolidating oil and gas, agricultural
and consumer goods ties, and further develop cooperation in new materials,
advanced manufacturing, clean energy and smart agriculture. China's chief
international trade negotiator at ministerial rank and MOFCOM vice minister Li
Chenggang attended.
