Nov 5 — At a regular foreign ministry briefing, spokesperson Guo Jiakun
responded to a Hong Kong court's Nov 5 sentencing in Joshua Wong's case for
conspiring to collude with foreign or external forces to endanger national
security. Guo said Wong's offence is serious, he pleaded guilty, and the central
government firmly supports the HKSAR in lawfully safeguarding national security
and punishing acts that endanger it. Guo urged relevant parties to respect
Chinese sovereignty and Hong Kong's rule of law, stop making irresponsible
comments on HKSAR judicial cases, and cease any interference in Hong Kong's
judiciary and China's internal affairs.
