Singapore's air quality has improved after weeks of heavy haze and most government haze-response measures will be lifted. The National Environment Agency said distribution of N95 and equivalent masks via vending machines and community clubs will end at 18:00 SGT on Nov. 7. Air-conditioned rest rooms at designated refuge centers will close at the same time, and haze protection measures for outdoor workers will end on Nov. 7. NEA said a monsoon shift and increased rainfall have reduced haze; pollutant standard index readings have eased after consecutive weeks at "unhealthy" or "very unhealthy" levels driven by Indonesian wildfires. On Wednesday Singapore tightened cross-border haze laws, adding restrictions and imposing fines on firms that do business with entities or individuals suspected of involvement in the fires.
