Some lawmakers linked the bill to Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen, warning of a potential new military commitment by Turkey with unclear scope and nature, and made controversial remarks criticizing the Mecca Treaty, mentioning Saudi Arabia's role and Riyadh's convergence of interests with the United States and Israel in the conflict. Several Turkish lawmakers also criticized Ankara's regional policies, demanding clarification on the specific scope of Türkiye's new military commitment.
