The New York Times reports thousands of U.S. Air Force and Navy personnel,
deployed on more than ten ships and at bases across the Middle East and the
United States, are on standby to carry out large-scale operations against Iran
if ordered by President Trump. Pentagon officials say U.S. and Israeli forces
have drawn up concrete plans for a short, intense campaign likely aimed at
Iranian energy infrastructure, nuclear sites, and missile and drone stockpiles.
Trump has signaled reluctance to resume strikes, but officials and former
diplomats warn the option remains and political pressure could constrain him
choices.
