Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi said the government should allocate
additional proceeds from accelerated Bank of Japan ETF sales to investments
critical to Japan's "economic security", saying the funds should be reinvested
in crisis management and growth measures. Last week the BOJ said it will speed
ETF disposals from January, raising annual sales to ¥860 billion from ¥330
billion — a move that could boost annual remittances to the government by about
¥800 billion.
