Ge Ju, deputy director of the National Energy Administration's Development
Planning Department, said the NEA will further coordinate domestic supply and
diversified imports to strengthen oil and gas security. Domestically, the agency
will accelerate supply-capacity building, implement a 10-year oil and gas
exploration and development action plan, and raise investment and operation
intensity to solidify the resource base. On imports, China already has oil and
gas trade ties with nearly 50 countries and sources from major global exporters;
during the 15th Five-Year Plan the NEA will deepen cooperation in key overseas
producing regions to broaden source and route diversification. The agency will
also consolidate and expand overland strategic import channels and safeguard
maritime transport routes to ensure oil and gas can be procured and returned to
China.
