According to Israel's public broadcaster, an official familiar with Saudi Arabia's position stated that Saudi Arabia sees no possibility of establishing diplomatic relations with Israel as long as Netanyahu remains in power with the existing ruling coalition. Saudi Arabia has not yet publicly responded to the Israeli election results. However, the official stated that Netanyahu's policies run counter to Saudi Arabia's position of seeking a "two-state solution" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The official said, "Saudi Arabia wants peace and wants to resolve the issue through negotiations." He added that Netanyahu does not agree with Riyadh's approach to resolving the conflict. According to the official, Saudi Arabia opposes the policies in question, not Netanyahu personally. He accused the Israeli prime minister of escalating the situation. However, the official emphasized that Saudi Arabia does not have a preferred candidate for Israeli leadership, stating that who leads Israel is a matter of domestic policy. The official stated that Saudi Arabia hopes that whoever leads the next Israeli government will be willing to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through negotiations.
